The MG M9 Electric MPV is a new addition to India’s premium EV segment. With a focus on luxury, comfort, and long-range capability, MG is positioning the M9 as a family-first electric vehicle for those who don’t want to compromise on space or style. We took it out for a full 100–0% range test and drive review, and here’s what we found.
Design That Stands Out Without Being Loud
The MG M9 has a clean and elegant design. The front gets a closed grille, slim LED headlamps, and chrome touches that give it a premium feel. The large glass area, sliding rear doors, and high roofline hint at its MPV roots, while flush door handles and aerodynamic lines add a modern EV touch.
Spacious & Tech-Focused Interior
Step inside, and you’re greeted by a minimal yet luxurious cabin. The highlight is the dual-screen setup that houses the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Other notable features include ventilated captain seats, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a premium sound system.
The MG M9 also offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multiple USB-C ports, and rear climate control. Space in all three rows is generous, with ample legroom and headroom.
Motor, Battery & Real-World Range
The MG M9 is powered by a large 90 kWh battery pack paired with a single motor delivering smooth and quiet performance. MG claims a range of 520 km, but in our 100–0% range test, we managed to extract around 465 km in mixed driving conditions—impressive for a vehicle this size. The top speed is capped at 160 km/h, but it’s more about comfort than speed.
Ride Comfort & Drive Feel
The ride is tuned for comfort. It absorbs road bumps with ease and feels planted at highway speeds. The regenerative braking system works well in city traffic and helps extend range.
Price & Verdict
Priced at ₹49.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG M9 may not be cheap, but it delivers in terms of comfort, practicality, and electric range. If you’re looking for a premium electric family car with real-world usability, the M9 is worth considering.
