Volvo is all set to bring its smallest and most

Volvo is all set to bring its smallest and most affordable electric SUV, the Volvo EX30, to the Indian market. The company has confirmed the India launch will take place in early 2025, and bookings are expected to open by the end of this year. So, what makes the EX30 such a big deal?

A Modern Yet Minimal Design

The Volvo EX30 carries Volvo’s signature clean and Scandinavian styling. At first glance, it looks compact but premium. The Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, sleek body panels, and minimal lines give it a futuristic and upscale look.

From the back, the split tail lamps add to its unique identity. Despite being Volvo’s smallest SUV, it doesn’t feel basic or stripped down. Everything from the wheel design to the choice of materials feels thoughtfully crafted.

Smart Features Inside the Cabin

Step inside, and you’re greeted with a simple yet high-tech interior. There’s a large 12.3-inch vertically oriented touchscreen that controls almost everything — music, climate, navigation, and more. The instrument cluster is integrated into the same screen.

Recycled materials are used across the cabin, staying true to Volvo’s sustainability focus. You also get:

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay
  • A premium Harman Kardon sound system
  • Connected car tech
  • Advanced driver-assistance features like lane assist, adaptive cruise control, and pilot assist

Electric Powertrain and Performance

Globally, the Volvo EX30 comes in multiple variants, and we expect the Single Motor Extended Range and the Twin Motor Performance AWD versions to arrive in India.

  • The single-motor version delivers up to 272 hp and does 0–100 km/h in about 5.3 seconds.
  • The dual-motor variant offers 428 hp, with a 0–100 time of just 3.6 seconds, making it Volvo’s fastest car yet.

This performance doesn’t come at the cost of range. The Single Motor Extended Range claims up to 480 km (WLTP) on a full charge — more than enough for most urban and semi-urban needs.

Charging and Battery Life

Volvo EX30 supports fast charging up to 153 kW, which means 10–80% charging in just around 26 minutes (using a DC fast charger). It uses a 69 kWh battery pack in the extended-range models.

Expected Price in India

Volvo aims to assemble the EX30 locally, which means we could see pricing around ₹50–55 lakh (ex-showroom). While that may seem high for a small SUV, the performance, safety, and luxury make it stand out.

Final Verdict

The Volvo EX30 is more than just another EV launch. It brings luxury, design, safety, and strong electric performance into a compact, city-friendly form. For those looking to switch to an electric car without compromising on premium feel, the Volvo EX30 could be a solid option.

It’s not just a good electric SUV — it might just be the most sensible luxury EV you can buy in India soon.
