2025 Maruti Jimny

Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the 2025 Maruti Jimny, and this time it comes with some serious updates that could shake up the off-road segment. The most exciting change? A new hybrid engine, updated interiors, and a noticeable drop in starting price. All this raises an important question – can the new Jimny finally beat the Mahindra Thar?

Rugged Yet Fresh: Exterior and Design

The 2025 Maruti Jimny sticks to its iconic boxy silhouette, but gets subtle design tweaks. The front grille has been slightly redesigned for a more modern look, and new alloy wheels give it a bolder stance. A couple of new color options, including a fresh green and grey, add to its off-road appeal. Despite the updates, it still looks very much like a proper SUV, not just a hatchback on steroids.

Feature Upgrades & Cabin Feel

Inside, the cabin feels more refined now. The dashboard layout remains functional but sees better quality materials and a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other key additions include automatic climate control, cruise control, and rear AC vents. It’s still a narrow SUV, so three in the back will be tight, but for two, it’s plenty comfortable.

All-New Hybrid Engine & Performance

Under the hood, the 2025 Maruti Jimny now gets a 1.5L petrol-hybrid engine that combines Maruti’s Smart Hybrid tech with better torque delivery. While the petrol-only version is still available with manual and automatic gearbox options, the hybrid variant is the highlight this year.

It remains a ladder-frame 4×4 with low-range transfer case – something that off-road lovers will truly appreciate. Whether it’s rocky terrain or slushy trails, Jimny continues to handle it with ease.

Mileage & Efficiency

Maruti claims the petrol-hybrid version delivers 20.5 km/l, which is a big leap from the older 16.94 km/l figure. This makes it one of the most fuel-efficient 4×4 SUVs in the country – something Thar doesn’t offer yet.

Pricing & Verdict

Here’s the shocker – the 2025 Maruti Jimny now starts at ₹9.25 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base petrol, while the hybrid versions go up to ₹12.85 lakh. That’s a clear price advantage over the Thar, especially when you factor in running costs.

Final Verdict: If you want a practical, fuel-efficient SUV that can go off-road without burning a hole in your wallet, the new Jimny Hybrid makes a solid case for itself. While Thar still wins on space and road presence, 2025 Maruti Jimny strikes a better balance between daily usability and weekend adventure.
